GRANITE BAY REAL ESTATE | BUY A HOME IN GRANITE BAY
Granite Bay’s roots date back to the early 1550s when gold miners first settled the banks of the American River. This area was initially known as “Granite Bar,” a small mining camp just below another mining area. Granite Bar was changed to Granite Bay for the granite rock quarried from the banks that were used for the Folsom Dam. Cattle ranchers also took advantage of water and grassy slopes.
The modern history of the area dates back to the 1970s with the steady development of housing along the bay. In 1987, the Placer County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution naming Granite Bay an officially designated unincorporated community. Today, Granite Bay is a community with a storied past and a bright future.
Granite Bay schools are some of the best in the region. The Eureka Union School District covers the elementary grades. During a recent year, this district boasted that three-fourths of its student’s individual scores scored at or above the national average. Granite Bay High School is part of the Roseville Joint Union School District, a collection of schools that are proud of superior academic performance.
When it comes to recreation, the opportunities are nearly endless. Folsom Lake offers water sports including swimming and boating, skiing, fishing hiking, running, camping, picnicking and horseback riding. There is a 32-mile bike path that connects Folsom Lake with many Sacramento County parks. Located a short drive away from Granite Bay is the famous California Delta where you can camp by the water, swim, ski or float down the river in houseboats.
Golfing enthusiasts can tee off at Granite Bay Golf Club's fabulous 18-hole championship golf course. The course integrates the natural beauty of the terrain, while providing beautiful views of the snow capped Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Currently, there are two major parks in Granite Bay with plans for additional parkland and facilities. Treelake Village Park offers a family picnic area, baseball and soccer fields in addition to a sports park. Douglas Ranch Park also offers similar amenities and sits on approximately 4.5 acres.
Granite Bay real estate offerings consist mainly of single-family homes on beautiful treed lots. Real estate prices vary depending on size, location and amenities. Some homes offer lake frontage or views. For custom real estate development, land and lots can also be found in Granite Bay.
